Start-ups are exciting to work with—both beautiful and vulnerable. Engaging in the right conversations to enable founders to get out of their comfort zone, build trust with their partners and clients, make decisions, and be clear on how to spend their time productively are some of the areas on which we focus our energy to support founders and their teams in their ventures.

Based on my experience as an entrepreneur myself and dialogues with many start-up founders, I could see a clear need for a highly-tailored mentoring & coaching programme.

We work with founders who have managed, at a minimum, to go through the initial phases of launching their business, generating revenue, recruiting a couple of employees, and attracting funds to finance the first 1–2 years of their business ventures.

In most cases, these individuals have gone through some sort of an accelerator or Venture studio (Innouvo, for example) and have been mentored to get their businesses in shape. They are highly-driven and focused; they know what they are doing, as they have asked themselves some of the right questions.

However, as time goes by, these founders often feel alone, as they cannot share their struggles and fears with anyone.

 

Irrespective of their level of maturity, founders do carry a baggage of their past successes and failures, both professional and personal. Dealing effectively with this “unfinished business or baggage” is usually liberating and empowering.

Another important aspect is building good habits and quickly breaking the bad ones. They may either be known by the founder, or sometimes, his/her ecosystem. Raising his/her awareness of and deploying strategies to deal more effectively with these habits can be impactful for the founder and also for his/her stakeholders. It is really about setting oneself up for success.

Engaging in a mentoring / coaching relationship can be meaningful for a shorter period (usually six months) or a longer one (12–18 months), depending on the founder’s needs and preferences.
